Our Story
Later life deserves better design.
Arun began with a simple objection: that moving somewhere for the next chapter of your life usually means accepting less.

What we are reacting against.
Too often, later-life housing quietly takes things away: autonomy, beauty, relationships, the ordinary freedom to decide how a day goes. Routines become institutional. Buildings become corridors. People become residents in the administrative sense rather than the human one.
None of that is necessary. It is a design failure, not a fact of ageing.
Where Arun comes from.
The project is informed by experience around European eldercare, hospitality, property and community-building in Koh Samui, the combination matters, because a good later-life community needs all four.
Choeng Mon was chosen because it is a real neighbourhood with a mild climate, a calm bay and a long-established international community, on an island that families can actually reach.
The principles we design around
The things long-lived communities tend to share.
These are widely observed in communities where people live long, well-connected lives. We design for them deliberately.
- Movement built into the ordinary day
- Relationships and being known by name
- Purpose and things worth getting up for
- Nourishing, genuinely enjoyable food
- Nature, daylight and being outdoors
- Ordinary daily life, not a programme
Independence without isolation. Privacy without loneliness. Community without obligation. Support without surrendering your life.
Be part of the first community.
